Winter draws to a close #winterskills #skitouring #scottishskitouring

24th March 2019

It was always going to return, wasn't it! Looking over the photos from the last few weeks it has been a good month. We've had plenty of winter skills, ski touring and climbing teams out making the most of the late season conditions. Being flexible has been key, as well as keeping an open and honest dialogue with people who are coming on our courses. It's been great to hear people have still  enjoyed themselves and learned lots on our cousres.

There's no doubt that the warm spell in February has limited options and has made the snow pack more vunerable. Nonetheless, it's good to have made the most of it and still to have something to go at for another week or so.

Another observation of the photos this season is orange and red were the jacket colours of choice!

A must do if visiting Aviemore My wife and i wanted to hike up' 'Ben Macdui' Scotlands second highest mountain. We contacted 'Cairngorm adventure guides' who were brilliant, easy to deal with, professional and promt. Our guide Emma didn't just get us to the summit but gave us lot's of local information on the area, and on hiking in the mountains in general. The walk is a couple of hours (we're 58 & 60 years old) with a few stops to take in the the stunning scenery and take photo's. As well as being constantly informative, Emma was also professional and considerate, offering us options for various descents, given the weather conditions and time. The weather changed, as would be expected, in the Scottish highlands, constantly, this only enhanced the overall experience and satisfaction of completing the hike. All in all, if you're looking for a memorable experience in the Scottish highlands, DO THIS!
