Start of winter.

23rd November 2021

It's great to see fresh snow on the hills and a wintry forecast! We managed to get a day out today, going up the Fiachal Ridge and over Cairn Gorm. The light cloud lifted to give great views and blue skies, a real treat. It's always worth getting a few easy days out at the start of winter and to have a bit of a shake down. Good get the crampons on and feeling the crunch of the snow. Our courses are filling up very quickly this year but there are a few remaining places here and there. Please get in touch if you'd like to join us for some winter skills, winter mountaineering, winter climbing or ski touring training.

A must do if visiting Aviemore My wife and i wanted to hike up' 'Ben Macdui' Scotlands second highest mountain. We contacted 'Cairngorm adventure guides' who were brilliant, easy to deal with, professional and promt. Our guide Emma didn't just get us to the summit but gave us lot's of local information on the area, and on hiking in the mountains in general. The walk is a couple of hours (we're 58 & 60 years old) with a few stops to take in the the stunning scenery and take photo's. As well as being constantly informative, Emma was also professional and considerate, offering us options for various descents, given the weather conditions and time. The weather changed, as would be expected, in the Scottish highlands, constantly, this only enhanced the overall experience and satisfaction of completing the hike. All in all, if you're looking for a memorable experience in the Scottish highlands, DO THIS!
